How To Find Your Calm Place At Work
Stress for most individuals is a temporary feeling. Although, when built up over time it can take a toll on your physical health and emotional wellbeing. Blame it on short deadlines, long to-do lists or the fast pace at which the world moves. Whatever the reason, it is harder to remain stress-free and perform to the best of your ability at work nowadays. Here are some tips to help you stay calm and energised throughout the day.
- Take a Walk
Whether you have a lot of emails or an extensive to-do list, sitting at a desk can leave you feeling agitated and stressed. The best way to find your calm place at work is to go for a short walk.
Going out and getting some fresh air will allow the brain to release important endorphins that help anxiety, increase energy and will improve your overall mood.
- Get inspired by a TED Talk
Sometimes all you need is a dose of motivation. TED talks are a great way to spark some creativity and motivation. TED talks can help you to work happier or get advice to further your career. Listening or watching on your way to work will set you up for success.
- App Meditation
Apps like Headspace and Calm are some of the many available to help you practice a mindfulness routine.
Depending on if you’re at work, on the go or at home mindfulness apps are the perfect way to help de-stress from work.
- Stretch
Similar to walking, stretching will help loosen up the body and increase blood flow.
Find a space or quiet place and practice some simple stretches during a lunch break.
If not, you can do some simple neck, back and wrist stretch that you can do while at your desk for 5 – 10 minutes.
- Choosing Where You Place Your Attention
When preoccupied and worried, our performance suffers instead of focusing our attention on the task at hand.
We excel the most when we have the concentration and capacity to choose where we place our attention.
Allowing yourself to choose where you place attention will help you manage stress and be more productive and creative.
