Dress for your shape

Every body shape has its own characteristics and individuality. The aim of choosing the right clothes is to balance your shape! You might not be able to follow all the fashion trends that are out there... But nowadays there are so many trends in fashion that there is something for every bodies shape. There are five primary body shapes to consider when picking clothes for your shape.

Firstly there is the apple-shaped body, this is where your body is 'top heavy', which means you have a wider torso, broad shoulders, and a full bust. The 'apple' shape body tends to have thinner arms, legs, and hips! The fashion goal is to elongate the torso and show off the legs! Celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey and Kate Winslet have this shaped bodies.

The most common figure proportion for women is the pear shape. This means that the widest part of your body is below your waist, around your hips. Some people refer to this body shape as triangle. Since the is goal when picking clothing is to emphasize the waist and arms, remember that shoulders and torso are your best assets! Celebrities like America Ferrera and Kim Kardasian work these body shapes.

The hourglass figure is considered the ideal body type by many women. Women with this body type, their bust and hips tend to be around the same size, and the waist is narrow. When dressing your hourglass figure, look for styles and fabrics that reduce bulk and prevent boxiness.Just remember the fashion goals for they shape is to show off the curves without over doing it like celebrities Sandra Bullock and Beyoncé.

If you have a Rectangle body shape then it means that your silhouette is fairly straight up and down, there’s no main area you need to minimise so you can get away with more things than most! However you may crave more curves which is easily done with the right clothing! By using seams and belts you can draw attention to your waist, minimising its appearance Celebrities such as Ann Hathaway and Kate Middleton are great icons to follow for this shape.

Lastly is the inverted triangle shape, the shape is where you have a broader chest, wide shoulder and a narrow hips and waist. The idea is to draw more attention to the hips and waist when picking an outfit, really showing off the lower body while softening the shoulders, Famously working this shape is Naomi Campbell and Demi Moore.
