Afternoon Tea was introduced in the early 1840s by Anna, the seventh Duchess of Bedford however it was only when Queen Victoria engaged in the Afternoon Tea that it became a formal occasion which was then known as 'tea receptions'. 
Today tea rooms and hotels in London offer the Traditional Afternoon tea experience which have been very popular with Tourists.

You can experience the far more tradition afternoon tea in the famous Ritz Hotel, however new businesses are allowing you to participate in a more unique and modern way. The Shard has several restaurants which allows you to have the view of London as well as delicious food for an experience you wouldn't forget.
Salon Couture High-tea will take place in the beautiful Thames Foyer on the first Wednesday of every month. Priced at £58 per person, including a welcome cocktail created by American Bar Head Bartender Erik Lorincz.
