Tried and Tested: Red Lipsticks
The holiday season is the perfect time to bring out a red lip. With so many to choose from, we tested some of the best lipsticks to see which is best for you.
Estée Lauder Hydra Lustre Signature 35
Elizabeth Arden Power Red 01
This is a bright and playful red with a thick moisture and long staying power. We love the silver and gold mix in packaging.
Rouge Diorific Dior Diva
Want to keep it a bit more modest? This is definitely a little more toned down. However slightly pricey, perhaps a great Christmas present? The unique ball packaging makes it stand out amongst the others.
Chanel Rouge Allure Palpitante 102
This one’s more of a pink shade than the others. No need to touch up all day because the staying power is great. Ideal for a classic look with a flick of eyeliner. The black and gold classic packaging immediately gives it a deluxe feel.
Clarins Joli Rouge 716
This one's thick and has a rich moisture. You might need to touch up a bit throughout the day so if you know the office is due to be hectic maybe go for Chanel. As much as we prefer gold packaging we like the clean look of this silver finish. Best value for money.
Our tips for the perfect red lip:
- Use a liner to shape your lips and make the colour last longer. Always match the liner with the lipstick.
- Keep your lips hydrated. If you have particularly dry lips go for a glossier product rather than a matte finish.
- Choose a shade that compliments your skin tone.
- Keep the rest of your make-up simple.
Wear it with:
A classic black dress. Our Tetbury dress works perfectly with an iconic red lip.
